3 x 5 Tea Stained Gonzales Texas Battle Flag
Celebrate early Texas History with a vintage style 3 x 5 tea stained Gonzales Texas battle flag from our Texas gifts and Texas flags collections. This first battle flag of the Republic of Texas era is made of genuine cotton and displays a cannon, five-pointed lone star, and lettering saying “come and take it,” remembering the challenge that Texans who refused to return a cannon to the Mexican troops.
The cannon, star and letters are actually pieces of cotton fabric (appliques) that are sewn onto the flag with an embroidered satin stitch around the edges.
We custom antique these by hand and so each one will be differently shaded with that wonderful soft, old-looking antique flag feel. This Gonzales Texas battle flag normally measures roughly 36 x 60 inches (3 by 5 foot) unstained, but you should expect shrinkage of at least two to three inches in each direction from the antiquing process. Two metal grommets are attached on the flag hoist side.
We also offer these battle flags in a custom frame made of reclaimed wood made and assembled here in Texas. For more information, take a look at the framed Texas flags shown at the bottom of this page.
