Life size wooden American bison buffalo nicknamed "Glory," a hand carved oak wildlife sculpture from our hand carved wood animals and Tim Hogan art collection. This unique carved bison art sculpture was created by one of our Texas artists.
Glory stands 9 ft tall, weighs approximately 2.5 tons, and is being considered for the largest hand carved oak bison in the world. The piece required years of planning and 6 months to complete. Glory was birthed from four oak trees, one of which was growing while Bison still roamed the open, Western range. The front shoulders and legs are from a 200-year old tree. This bison sculpture is painted and stained in a life like manner, and celebrates a wonderful animal native to the Western US. The wooden bison statue itself measures 78 inches high x 42 inches wide x 108 inches from tail to tip of nose. Mounted on a very substantial oak base which measures approximately 2 1/2 feet tall x 6 feet wide x 10 feet long.
A hand carved plaque will be affixed to the base of the Glory sculpture, wording as follows:
The American Bison was as fast vanishing as the Old West during the Eighteenth Century. Truly these magnificent animals were an amazing gift to all on the North American Continent supplying food, fuel, shelter, and warmth for those using its resources. This carving is solid oak weighing approximately five thousand pounds. It was birthed from four oak trees, one of which was growing during the time the Bison roamed the open, Western range. The front shoulders and legs are from a tree dating back some two hundred years ago. However, the name of this piece was not derived from the mighty oak tree, nor the majestic Bison, nor the powerful storms that uprooted two of the trees used in this piece. The name Glory was chosen to give glory to the God that supplied this animal to humanity whose voice is heard throughout the earth.
Psalm 29:7, 8a, 9 "The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire. The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness. The voice of the Lord causes the oaks to whirl, and strips the forest bare; and in His temple all say, "glory!"
