Over the past 20 years Cassie, who signs her art MaFe ©, has published a number of limited edition prints. Her original works can be found in private homes and businesses throughout the United States and Mexico.

A few questions to Cassie yielded these nuggets: What motivates you to say "today I'm going to paint"? Usually, I have an single theme like when I painted First Day of Spring. I wanted to do a painting that was really happy just like the old May day dances we had at school. All the flowers and animals coming out to enjoy the sunshine. How I choose between acrylic and watercolor? I only use watercolors to do a wash background, the acrylics are bolder and the variety of colors is never ending. How I got started painting? I went to Santa Fe in the late 80's and fell in love with all the color there. I first started painting the houses with all the great doors, etc. and it evolved around that. My style has been compared to Grandma Moses and Santa Fe, that is where I got the name Ma Fe. Do I ever get frustrated with any aspects of painting? During about 90% of my paintings, I get to a point where I don't like it but then I will add something or finish an area and I can see that it is all coming together. I have one painting that sits in the corner still at that point. Why did I choose folk art as a genre? It lets me use my imagination more, I can paint anything and it doesn't have to be 100% real, its more fun that way. What's my favorite piece of the ones on Texas Crazy? That is easy - First Day of Spring: It came out just like I wanted it to and I wouldn't change a thing.

To help more folks throughout Texas and the US enjoy the brilliant colors and whimsy of Cassie's Texas folk art, Texas Crazy is offering MaFe © original art work and hand signed print reproductions. For more information about this Texas artist and her art, click on any picture below:
