Trooper of the Plains

Trooper of the Plains
The Roman Bronze Works began the original lost wax casting of Trooper of the Plains in 1909. This Frederic Remington fine art reproduction of this western bronze features a cavalry trooper on a galloping horse. Holding a pistol at the ready, he pursues his object with quiet but firm determination.

Remington challenged the sculpture techniques of his day by the innovative ways that he worked with the foundry to present movement in his bronze statues. On Trooper of the Plains, three of the hooves gather under the horse at the artist base to take best advantage of the strength of the bronze material and still indicate the rapid movement of the trooper's mount.

These Remington bronzes (the original Trooper being about 26 inches in height) is one of Remington later sculptures, being produced in the year prior to his death, another one of his statues depicting life in the early West from our western bronze sculptures collection.

These western art reproductions are produced using the same lost wax casting method which is usually preferred to sand casting as it retains a closer resemblance to the artist original model.
