Celebrate early Texas with this framed first Republic of Texas flag for your office or home decor, part of our
Texas Flags collection from our Texas History section.
Five delegates from the first Republic of Texas constitutional convention (all signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence) chose this flag design by Lorenzo de Zavala. De Zavala himself was a Republic of Texas delegate and statesman, having been born in Mexico, serving as Mexico's Secretary of the Treasury and their Minister to Paris before aligning himself with the Texas cause. This first flag of the Republic may have been inspired by Colonel Fannin who requested, "give us a flag to fight under as unlike theirs as possible...in time to hoist it in defiance to Santa Anna."
This first Republic of Texas flag (
large view) is made of USA spec cotton flag bunting that has been weathered to simulate the antique flag vintage look. The flag is then hand stretched over a masonite backing and comes with your choice of a rustic light barnwood frame or our custom dark finish barnwood frame (see below).

We accept online orders for this first Republic of Texas flag in two sizes: medium 16 x 24 inches in a 20 x 28 inch frame or large 24 x 36 inch flag set in a 28 x 40 inch frame.
